Some more facts about elderly population across Canada and elder abuse. Canadian Network for the prevention of Elder abuse 2010 reported that there has been a reduction in cases of elder abuse because more elderly people are healthier and are still part of the work force in Canada and living their independent lives in their homes. The older adults who required help or assistance, lived in a large community where home care services and other private caregivers were present at the time of need; compared with the elderly population living with their children or grandchildren. In the report, the elderly population was compared with a population of 25 years back from the year 2010. The report also discussed how the elderly population did not depend upon the health care system for their care needs as many of them were living independently and did not require services from home caregivers.
